21. Crack Up - 9 March 1978.

Two men are freeway racing, Jon and Ponch give chase, the men split up, and as one of them turns the corner he blocks of the road with his car, as Jon comes round the corner he smashes into the car, he is injured and taken to hospital, had he not worn his helmet he would have been seriously hurt. In the hospital Jon is restless and decides to get out of bed, as he does he looses his balance and starts to fall, Ponch and Getraer catch him and call the doctor, who advises Ponch and Getraer to leave so that Jon can rest.

Back on patrol Grossie is the mans next victim, driving a tow truck he speeds past Grossie and as Grossie gives chase the man drops a metal chain from the truck he's driving which swings to knock Grossie of his bike, he is taken to the hospital and put in a bed next to Jon.

Meanwhile a man has run off with his 2 children, and ignoring procedure Ponch drives his motorbike in front of the car and reduces his speed to slow it down, the car stops and the children are returned safely and unharmed to their mum, then Ponch gets told of by Getraer about not going by the book.

Back on the freeway Jon and Ponch chase the man who injured Jon and Grossie, he is again using the chain and knocks Jon of his bike, as he gets up he ties the chain around a pillar to stop the truck, then he makes the arrest.
