73. The Poachers

Jon and Ponch are on the hunt for game poachers in the mountains and come across and elderly native american man.

2 poachers are trying to kill a baby dear, are seen by an old indian man who uses his bow and arrow to scare them off, they run away and drive fast and are seen by Jon and Ponch who give chase, during the chace they crash, they explain to Ponch that the indian was firing at them, Ponch says he will check it out.

The indian is living in the mountains with his grandson teaching him the old and better ways of life. Meanwhile Jon and Ponch cruise back up to the mountains looking for the indian, but he hides, Jon finds another arrow in the tree, and suggests that there could be poachers around.

The indians grandson asks why they didn't help the police, and the indian explains that the world would just interfere, its better to handle it themselves.

Ponch goes to visit the 2 poachers to get their story straight, when Ponch leaves they offer him a gun made out of wood, Ponch says "thanks but no thanks", he does not like deadly weapons.

Later the poachers return to the mountain with a bow and arrow. Jon and Ponch also go to the mountains looking for the indian, the indian sees Jon and Ponch and sends the grandson back to camp, on his way back to camp he sees the poachers and shouts a warning to the deer to save it being shot, the poachers then chace the boy, as he runs from them he falls into the path of Jon's truck, Jon and Ponch pick him up and take him with them, the boy refuses to say where he lives, after a while he agrees to tell them and takes them to a spot and then makes a run for it, Ponch loses him.

The poachers are on the trail of another deer, but this time Jon Ponch and Bonnie are waiting for them, as they are about to shoot it Ponch shouts out "Police", they run, and the CHP officers all give chase, after a long chase they are caught and arrested.

At the race track Ponch is beaten by Getraer much to the rest of the CHP's amusement.
