A "no nukes" protest bus crashes and on board is Ellen Getraer, sarge's daughter.

Harlan is leaving the CHP to be a policeman for the LAPD.

Ponch tells Getraer that his daughter may be on the next no nukes protest, he is gutted, but concerned.

Later a young boy gets hit by a car, at the hospital Ponch notices bruises on his back, he suspects child abuse.

Later at the hospital Ponch and Bobby go to visit the boy, when the boys stepfather turns up he hears Ponch and Bobby talking about the abuse that he has been doing to his stepson, and he flees, as he does he knocks over a trolley being pushed by a nurse and Ponch and Bobby hear him and chase him.

He crashes into a mud pit and stops, Ponch checks his boot and finds canes and sticks that he used to beat the boy, as he takes one out the man asks 'what are you doing" Ponch says "I know what I would like to do", the man replies "dont hit me" Ponch says "I wouldn't touch you with a 10ft pole".

Later the no nukes bus is going under a bridge when its breaks fail and it crashes and catches fire, all the people are trapped, Ellen Getraer calms everyone and leads them to safety, while Ponch puts out the fire.

After later more protesting Ellen is arrested, after Getraer pays her bail they talk and things work out between them.

The CHP are having a leaving party for Harlan, who tells them he failed the LAPD because of his eyesight and not height.

Ponch says that with the LAPD he's just another officer but with the CHP he's the worlds greatest mechanic.
