At Central the presentation of Officer Bruce Nelson to Sergeant is on the way, and Ponch is late.
He is cut up by a speeder so he chases them out of uniform in his jeep but is stopped by CHP officer Roulette who gives him a ticket.

Ponch Arrives at central and walks straight past Jon to greet the others, Jon is a little upset at this but shrugs it off as Ponch then greets Jon.
Then a man on a bike causes a crash so Jon and Ponch chase him, when they pull him over they realise he was the boy they stopped years ago, we are then treated to a flashback from the Pilot episode.

Later during another chase Bruce is badly injured when he crashes his bike. In the ambulance we are again taken to a flashback to the time Ponch and Bruce met.

Back at Central Getraer wants Jon and Ponch back on the beat. While they are patrolling the freeways on the new CHP BMW bikes, Jon asks Ponch what he has been doing for the last 15 years as lots has changed.
We find out where they have both been and what has changed about them since they last saw each other.

Later on Patrol it's told that Bruce needs another blood transfusion, but the transfusion ambulance is stick on blocked traffic. Ponch goes up in the CHP chopper to get to the ambulance, but he has to get heavy with the ambulance men as they refuse to hand over the blood, in the end they give in and Ponch gets it to the hospital in time.

Back at central Getraer tells Ponch off for breaking the regulations and we see another flash back from the pilot episode.

Ponch later introduces his son to Jon and they go to have dinner at Jons place, and they meet Jons Wife, Sandy.
Ponch later tells Jon about his wife Carol (who was run off the road by a motorcyclist in the pilot, we see another flashback) and how she died, so Ponch quit the CHP and took up painting.

Back on the streets car jackers led by a woman boss Monica strike again. They try to make a car stop by smoking it, but the lady driver refuses to stop, so the jackers end up ramming her to stop her. Jon and Ponch respond to the call and the jackers head off, with Jon and Ponch in hot pursuit.
The car that the jackers were trying to steal is unable to stop as the brakes have failed, Ponch tells her to climb out of the car and onto his bike, she does this and then her car smashes to another and blows up.

Meanwhile Jon and Ponch go on the tv show Judge Judy about Jons neighbour's dog, which keeps fowling on his garden.

The car jackers steal another car and they are caught on camera loading it into a tour bus. The man who saw it goes to find them and blackmails them.
Jon puts Ponch and roulette together to sort out the stolen concept car.

Jon and Mcfall are kidnapped by the jackers, then the whole CHP and helicopter patrol go in search of the tour bus. The chopper spots the bus and soon they are all behind it, the CHP force the bus off the road and bring it to a halt.
Getraer arrives with Sandy Baker, she tells Ponch shes glad he is here, Ponch tells her he wont let anything happen to Jon.

After a long time the car jackers realise the game is up and give up, but Monica drives the bus again with Jon still on board and the CHP go in pursuit, Jon manages to free himself and gets onto the roof of the bus, one of the other jackers gets up top too and they fight up there, Jon wins and the car jacker falls, Jon climbs back into the bus and takes control of it by punching Monica out.
When all is calm, Ponch tells Jon 'and they call me hot dog', they laugh and Sandy kisses Jon.

Ponch and Jon say goodbye to each other and then Ponch leaves town and is chased by Roulette.
